Hello, fellow RV enthusiasts! If you're anything like me, you know that RVing is more than just a hobby; it's a way of life. Over the past 35 years, I've traveled all over the country in my trusty home-on-wheels, experiencing the beauty and freedom that RV life has to offer. Along the way, I've learned that having the right tools at your disposal can make or break your trip. In this Hitchin’ Memories blog post, I'll be sharing my top 10 must-have tools to keep in your RV, along with a detailed explanation of why each one is essential.
Multitool:
A multitool is the Swiss Army knife of RV tools. This compact, versatile gadget typically includes a knife, pliers, screwdrivers, scissors, and more. It's perfect for making minor repairs or adjustments on the go, and its small size means it's easy to store and carry. Don't leave home without one! The Gerber Gear MP400 and the

Tire Pressure Monitering System (TPMS):
Maintaining proper tire pressure is essential for safe and fuel-efficient driving. A TPMS lets you quickly and easily check the pressure in your RV's tires to ensure they're at the optimal level and temperature. Always know your tire pressure while on the go. The TST 770 series is one of my favorites. It has saved me a couple times.

Leveling Ramps:
Uneven terrain is a fact of life when you're RVing, and having a set of leveling blocks can make all the difference in your comfort and the longevity of your appliances. These durable, ramps can be easily driven up on to create a level surface for your RV.

Portable Air Compressor:
A portable air compressor is a lifesaver when you're on the road. Not only can it be used to inflate your RV's tires, but it can also be used for other tasks, such as inflating air mattresses, bike tires, or pool toys. Choose a compressor with a built-in pressure gauge for added convenience. In my experience the VIAIR 450P is one of the best made.

Emergency Roadside Kit:
An emergency roadside kit is an essential part of any RV toolkit. This kit should include items such as jumper cables, a reflective safety vest, a flashlight, road flares, and basic hand tools. It's also a good idea to have a portable battery charger or jump starter in your kit, as well as a tow strap in case you need to be pulled out of a tight spot.

RV-Friendly GPS:
While a standard GPS unit can get you from point A to point B, an RV-specific GPS can help you navigate more efficiently and safely. These devices are designed with RVers in mind and include features like route planning based on your RV's size and weight, campground information, and alerts for low bridges or other road hazards.

Water Pressure Regulator:
An often-overlooked but crucial tool for RVers is a water pressure regulator. This small device attaches to your freshwater hose and helps protect your RV's plumbing system by regulating the pressure of the water entering your rig. Without one, you run the risk of damaging your pipes and fixtures from high water pressure at some campgrounds.

Sewer Hose Support:
A sewer hose support is a must-have for maintaining a clean and efficient RV waste system. This simple device helps keep your sewer hose off the ground and at the proper angle, allowing waste to flow smoothly from your RV to the dump station. Not only does it make the dumping process easier and more sanitary, but it also helps prevent damage to your hose from sharp rocks or other debris.

Folding Shovel:
A folding shovel is one of those tools you might not think you need until you really need it. It's perfect for digging out a stuck tire, leveling a campsite, or even helping to put out a campfire. This compact tool is easy to store and won't take up much space in your RV, but it can be a real lifesaver in a pinch.
